This Season’s Wedding Trends

Today’s weddings are eclectic and varied. Happily, for those planning a wedding in this day and age, pretty much anything goes. But that’s not to say that there aren’t some popular trends when it comes to weddings. There are. And this year is no exception.

A Blushing Bride Doesn’t Have to be the Only Color
For instance, popular wedding colors right now include deep chocolate brown paired with a cooler color such as pale pink, light blue, lilac or mint green. Black and white weddings, also stylish right now, make for elegant affairs. Pink coupled with another color such as black, white, green or blue is also trendy. Luckily, Sculptware’s form-fitting spandex table covers and chair covers, with nearly 2 million possible color and pattern combinations, can please any palette. With this year’s addition of Silver and Gold Metallics (also hugely fashionable right now), the options are almost limitless.

Let’s Talk Cake – And Toppers
Again, most anything goes, including the color of the cake. Because of this, chocolate wedding cakes have become fashionable. The plastic man-and-wife toppers of years ago are definitely out. Toppers today, if used at all, can be made out of metal, chocolate, paper or crystal. Check out some incredible paper cake toppers at Wedding Soiree. The bride and groom’s initials are used a lot on top of cakes, and so are flowers. But don’t be afraid to use humor such as a figurine of a bride dragging a groom down the aisle.

Location, Location, Location
It used to be that weddings were held at a church, which dictated where the reception would be held. Not today. Civil ceremonies are now becoming more common than religious ceremonies, which leaves the door wide open for wedding venue choices. For sure, as families and friends become more spread out, destination weddings are becoming more popular. Whether tropical or arctic, favorite vacation destinations become wedding hot spots. With one location for wedding and reception, these affairs are becoming smaller rather than larger and more personal and intimate. Ranches, wineries, golf clubs, restaurants, boutique hotels, galleries and public gardens are all well-liked settings for any wedding.

Anything Goes Décor
And wedding décor can be most anything, too. Colored table linens are in vogue right now. And of course, Sculptware can help you with that with nearly 2 million possible color and pattern combinations. Check out our color selector to try different colors together. Colored glassware is also gaining in popularity and adds that extra something to every table setting. Using unique decorative signs of the couples’ initials or anything related to the wedding is common. Varying flower centerpieces by size or color is a great way to add dimension to any décor and using props (such as antique items) as centerpieces is also great.

FYI: Gifts = DIY
Don’t stress over the wedding guest gifts. This is a perfect opportunity for a fun DIY project. It can be as simple as the wedding couple’s initials stamped on a decorative box containing homemade chocolate truffles. Or it could be a potted fresh herb or a wonderful jar of homemade jam. A container of local honey with a pretty ribbon works just fine, too. Or even a beautifully wrapped package of some special homemade cookies. DIY is what’s in, because in truth, the homegrown gifts show the most heart.
